Central Coast's new Tourist Attraction Sinks

13th April 2011

The ex-HMAS Adelaide was to be scuttled more than twelve months ago but its final hurdle was not the very small protest group but a fun loving group of dolphins. The dolphins frolicked and played darting in and around the ship  completely oblivious of any time frames.

A wonderful crowd stretched the whole of Avoca and North Avoca Beaches as they watched on, all anticipating the final chapter in a ship that had given great service to the Australian Defence Force.

As its final chapter came to pass and a huge cheer erupted from Avoca to Terrigal, the Central Coasts newest tourist attraction was finally in its resting place.

Now a new chapter begins as the ex-HMAS Adelaide forms a wonderful artificial reef and the diving community eagerly visit our beautiful shores of Terrigal and Avoca but for them their focus will be the majesty of what the Adelaide creates.
