Industrial Areas

The Central Coast's major industrial areas are strategically located close to the Sydney-Newcastle Expressway from Somersby in the south to Warnervale in the north while with smaller areas are located throughout the region.

 - Somersby Industrial Estate top

Somersby Industrial Estate is adjacent to the Gosford exit of the Sydney-Newcastle Expressway and covers almost 400 hectares offering sites ranging from 0.4 hectares to 10 hectares.

Major industrial developer Hunter Land has made a number of major strategic investments here including its Somersby Central Industrial Park - a 12 hectare parcel of industrial land subdivided into 27 ready to build lots. Somersby Central Industrial Park is located on the corner of Somersby Falls Road and Piles Road, Somersby.

- Berkeley Vale Industrial Area top

Berkeley Vale Industrial Area is situated 8 kilometres from the Sydney-Newcastle Expressway, approximately halfway between Gosford and Wyong. The headquarters of two of Australia's major food companies - Mars Food Australia (MasterFoods) and Sanitarium Health Foods - are located here along with the regional headquarters of ADC KRONE, a world leader in design and manufacture of telecommunications equipment. Sico South Pacific has recently invested in a new multi-million dollar purpose-built facility, and Toll IPEC has opened their Central Coast freight terminal here.

- Warnervale Business Park top

Warnervale Business Park has been developed by Sydney industrial and commercial development specialists PacLib Management. Covering 47.6 hectares this Park is strategically located at the Sydney-Newcastle Expressway and Sparks Road interchange and adjoins Warnervale Airport. The main northern railway line and Warnervale railway station border the Park's eastern boundary.

  • Woolworths Limited have invested $100 million in an 81,000sqm state-of-the-art distribution centre on a 23ha site which is the largest in Australia.
  • Transport company Coastal Transport Services operates a 2,500 Distribution servicing industry in the region and provides trucking services including weighbridge and truck washing facilities.
  • Pacific Beverages, a joint venture of Coca-Cola Amatil and SABMiller - one of the world's largest brewers - is currently building a $120 million boutique premium brewery. The expected completion date is June-July 2010.

- North Wyong Industrial Estate top

North Wyong Industrial Estate is situated on the Pacific Highway just three kilometres north of Wyong and extends over 114 hectares with fully serviced lot sizes varying from 1 to 15 hectares. Companies operating within this Estate include Dulmison Australia, Donaldson Australasia, Bayer, Aalborg Industries, Novagen, Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Heyden Frames and Trusses, Partech, Fleetwood Timbers, Ground Consolidation, Morson Engineering, Pacific Labels, Rrecycle Australia and Belrose Automatic Engineering. Many smaller manufacturers and service industries are also located within this Estate.

- West Gosford Industrial Area top

West Gosford Industrial Area is located at the entrance to Gosford, three kilometres from the Sydney-Newcastle Expressway. This area comprises a mix of light industry and bulky goods retail. Most of the businesses operating in this area are small to medium in size and cover a wide range of service industries, builders' supplies, auto services, distributors and manufacturers.

- Lisarow Industrial Area top

Lisarow Industrial Area is situated five kilometres north of Gosford. Most of the companies in this area are medium to large in size. They include Accent Office Interiors, Central Coast Shopfronts, Office Furniture Design, Print National, Sara Lee Bakeries, Scholastic Australia and Sylvania Lighting Australia.

- Tumbi Umbi Industrial Area top

Tumbi Umbi Industrial Area is located on Wyong Road approximately halfway between Wyong and the coastal areas of Long Jetty, with the Mingara Recreation Club nearby. Most businesses in this area service the building and automotive industries.

- Charmhaven Industrial Area top

Charmhaven Industrial Area is situated on the Pacific Highway about 12 kilometres north of Wyong. This is one of the fastest growing industrial areas on the Central Coast. Factory, warehouse and showroom style units built in recent years, and currently under construction, cater for the small business looking to service the northern areas of the region. Some bulky goods retail businesses are also located in this area.

Major companies operating in this area inlcude Kellogg Australia, Borg Manufacturing and BCP Precast. In close proximity to this industrial area is Lake Haven Shopping Centre.

- Kincumber Industrial Area top

Kincumber Industrial Area, located between Erina and Avoca with access to the Brisbane Water, caters for small businesses providing services including building supplies and auto services.

- Wyong Employment Zone (new zoning) top

The Wyong Employment Zone is a State Significant Site which was rezoned under State Environmental Planning Policy (Major Projects) Amendment No. 21 on 7 November 2008. The site will create approximately 300 hectares of zoned land being IN1 General Industrial. One of the main aims of the policy is to promote economic development and creation of employment in the Wyong Employment Zone by providing for development for a wide range of employment-generating industrial, manufacturing, warehousing, storage or research purposes.

Wyong Employment Zone incorporates three distinct areas: Precincts 11 and 13 - Halloran, Precinct 14 - Warner Industrial Park, and Airport Supplier Park. Precinct 14 - Warner Industrial Park is located to the west of the Sydney-Newcastle Expressway with Sparks Road adjoining the southern boundary and Hue Hue Road adjoining the western boundary.

An application is current being assessed by the Department of Planning for a Concept Plan and Project Application for the subdivision and associated works for the Warner Industrial Park. The industrial subdivision incorporates a range of lot sizes with the main access to the Industrial Park from Sparks Road and Hue Hue Road.

- Mount Penang Parklands (new zoning) top

The NSW Government is currently considering the development of a commercial precinct to be on cleared land on the western side of Mount Penang Parklands overlooking Mount Penang Gardens.

Mt Penang Parklands is a 152 hectare estate, close to Gosford CBD and the Sydney-Newcastle Expressway, owned by the NSW Government offering myriad uses and wide-ranging development opportunities. The property and its diverse activities is managed by the Festival Development Corporation. The property is now entering an exciting phase of its development with a new planning framework planned to take effect in late 2009.

The site already has a thriving small business precinct and over the next twelve months the Corporation plans to secure the planning and design frameworks to enable the site to be taken to the market and formally inviting EOIs from prospective development interests.

Other development opportunities will be linked to new precincts. These could include investment and development opportunities in a precinct for mobile and fast-response technology businesses, boutique and tourist retail, educational, tourism, accommodation developments and expansion of the sports precincts.

The Corporation is interested to hear from hotel developers, conference centre developers or businesses wishing to be involved at a tourism or events level.
