Survey shows BEC support works

2nd May 2011

The Central Coast Business Enterprise Centre (CCBEC) has launched its first comprehensive survey of small business growth taken from those it has helped over many years.

The survey revealed small businesses supported by the CCBEC grew by an average of 20 per cent during the past year, with some growing well over 30 per cent which is above average.

"As a result we have seen a large number of jobs created on the Central Coast, with more than seven-hundred full-time and part-time jobs created in the last financial year," said CCBEC CEO Wayne Gates.

"We supported around five-hundred start-ups and four-hundred existing small businesses last year," said Mr Gates.

"Small business will continue to grow as the major employer on the Coast, and it is the responsibility of the CCBEC to support start-ups and existing small business and ensure they grow," he said.
